Thirty-three years ago today....

Thirty-three years ago today my oldest daughter was born. She was a beauty. The darkest hair and the biggest dark brown eyes a baby could have, I think. She was the best baby too, hardly ever cried...would sit for hours as a toddler and play with her favorite toys...A washcloth, a tennis shoe and a shoe string!

Now my baby girl is 7 weeks away from having her fifth child...where does the time go? I feel the need to brag just a bit about this incredible woman I call my daughter.

She graduated from high school with honors and went directly into the Navy. In fact, she turned eighteen years old in boot camp, in Florida, in the sweltering heat and humidity. (We live in the Pacific Northwest) It was difficult to let her go, but at least I knew she would be taken care of by our military...and she was. She did so well. She was always a black and white kinda girl...no shades of gray... She was smart, young, and confident enough that she thrived in the military.

Stationed in Iceland for her four year tour, she met and married our son-n-law, a nice southern boy from Oklahoma. They married and moved to Oklahoma with my first grandson when they got out of the service. They made such a sweet home for themselves there. Not too long after getting out of the Navy, our second grandson was born...then just a short while after that she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl...the spitting image of her beautiful mother...a few years later another beautiful baby girl....this one a beautiful tiny replica of her father. She stayed home with her children and even home schooled them. After a few years she felt she wanted more of an education for herself and her family and with a tough decision made, the family buckled down and mother went back to school.

She studied nursing and completed her four year nursing degree in half the time (I was not surprised!)... aced her tests (all the while taking care of her home, husband, church duties, raising four children, home schooling them, and all this just having had her fourth child!) and became a NICU nurse in one of the largest hospitals in Tulsa.

This woman, my daughter, is the most focused, amazing woman I have ever known and I stand in awe of all she does and everything she is. She is a very special woman and on this day, I reflect and ponder and just pray that she knows just how much I love her and hope that one day she feels the same over-whelming admiration for her girls that I am feeling today.

It is so good to know that the child I left on the counter and JC Penny's the day I brought her home from the hospital, suffered no ill effects...and not wanting her to feel too badly about it, I will just say this...I left Gramma and Grampa there too!

Happy Birthday, my sweet baby girl...
